A few days after taking part in COP16 in Cali, the RESTORE team was invited to the 5th Biodiversity and Economy Forum. On 13 November, Laurent Piermont, co-founder of RESTORE and the Organization for Biodiversity Certificates, was invited to take part in a round table discussion entitled ‘What place for biodiversity credits in France and Europe?’ alongside Romain Julliard, Professor at the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle d’Histoire naturelle, Joshua Berger, BioINT, Amélie Coantic, CGDD, Rachel Kolbe Semhoun, Kering and Jean-Christophe Benoit, CDC Biodiversité. Laurent Piermont took the opportunity to point out that ‘RESTORE’s expectation is above all recognition of the positive impact of its action in favour of biodiversity. It is this value that is key, it is what gives Restore its value’. The following day, Antoine Cadi led a workshop on ‘Biodiversity credits and finance: opportunities or risks for nature’, in the presence of Amandine HERSANT (Planète Urgence), Anne-Laurence Roucher, (Mirova) and Romain Julliard (MNHN), where he had the opportunity to present RESTORE. Following on from the recommendations of Kunming Montreal, the idea of mobilising private finance seems legitimate and necessary to halt the loss of global biodiversity and plan its recovery. This workshop was an opportunity to challenge the subject and open up new perspectives. RESTORE attends the Biodiversity and Economy 2024 Forum
Here’s a recap of two particularly intense days.
