Peru is opening a new chapter in biodiversity conservation !

The first MERESE (Ecosystem Services Compensation Mechanism) agreement has been launched to protect biodiversity in the Sierra del Divisor National Park, thanks to an alliance between Peru’s Ministry of the Environment, Peru’s Protected Areas Agency, Restore – Biodiversity Together, and FRONTERRA.

This agreement:

– Creates Peru’s first transparent financial mechanism for conservation and restoration,

– Places the country on the international stage as one of the European Union’s three pilots for biodiversity credits,

– Integrates the vision of indigenous communities, ensuring its legitimacy and long-term sustainability,

– The park protects more than 1.3 million hectares of Amazonian forest, which is home to unique species and ecosystems that are vital to life.

This is a new chapter that shows how a government, the private sector, and indigenous peoples can work together to generate innovative and sustainable solutions to combat climate change and biodiversity loss.

Congratulations again to the entire team and thank you to our partners and investors !
