RESTORE – Biodiversity, Together, selected by the European Commission as an expert on nature credits

RESTORE has been selected by the European Commission as an expert on nature credits

We are proud to announce that RESTORE – Biodiversity, Together has joined the European Commission’s Expert Group on Nature Credits as a member of Group B. Our role will be to represent the common interests shared by stakeholders in the biodiversity credits ecosystem (from biodiversity measures and indicators, methodologies, and certification to reporting and verification of nature credits) and to act in the public interest.

This selection comes with an official five-year appointment and recognizes RESTORE’s public interest, expertise, and strength in restoring and conserving biodiversity. This follows the Commission’s selection of our biodiversity conservation project in El Divisor National Park in Peru as an official Nature Credits pilot project by the European Commission.

The expert group will be tasked with supporting the European Commission in developing the framework for nature credits, in line with the Roadmap towards Nature Credits adopted on July 7, 2025. This is a key step in structuring a credible, demanding and useful for both ecosystems and field workers, communities and organisations.

The first meeting took place on December 11, marking the start of a long-term effort that will enable private funding for biodiversity to be scaled up in the future.

RESTORE thanks the European Commission for its trust and looks forward to making a concrete contribution to this European initiative by representing local communities, biodiversity advocates, and all those involved in this ecosystem in these discussions.
