RESTORE presented as a pilot project for biodiversity credits by the European Commission at COP16

During the panel discussion organised by the European Union at COP16 on 28 October at 1.15pm, the European Commission highlighted RESTORE as a biodiversity credit pilot project.

RESTORE is an innovative investment vehicle that aims to finance the preservation and restoration of natural ecosystems through the commitment of the private sector by enabling investors to eventually receive biodiversity certificates registered in national registers and validated by the European Commission. More broadly, the RESTORE initiative aims to contribute to the development of tools for measuring and verifying the actions financed, thereby contributing to the European objectives for the protection of biodiversity and to the Kunming-Montreal agreement established at COP15.

Through this recognition, the European Commission is renewing the confidence it has in RESTORE, confidence already shown through GreenAssist, the European technical assistance programme from which RESTORE has benefited.
